Kristine Luken

The Patrick Henry College community is saddened at the news of the tragic death of one of our former co-workers, Kristine A. Luken, outside of Jerusalem this past weekend (see news link, below). She was apparently murdered by unknown assailants while on a hike with a friend, who was also seriously injured in the attack. The case is still under investigation. Kristine worked at the College from October 2007 through April of 2009, working directly with Dr. Laura McCollum and Naomi Harralson as an Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness. She was instrumental in assisting the College's accreditation-related reporting and compliance activities during her tenure.

Kristine had a deep passion and sense of calling for the Jewish nation. She left PHC to work for a Christian ministerial outreach to Israel in England, which is where she was still serving at the time of her death. Kristine was a kind, gentle individual who loved Jesus and had a heart for people. Her memory will be honored by the many friends and co-workers who knew her at the College. We ask for your prayers at this difficult time for her family, as well as for the full recovery of her injured friend. We do not presently have any further details regarding funeral arrangements or how one might go about expressing condolences to the family, but we will post that information as it develops.

Again, we appreciate your prayers for the Luken family.
