Dr. Steven McCollum directs joint choirs in 2010 invitational choir festival concert

The Patrick Henry College Music Department invites the local community to attend a free concert on Wednesday, October 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the Barbara Hodel Center gymnasium. The concert will cap off the College’s second annual invitational choral festival. Musical groups in attendance include the Trinity Christian School Upper School Choirs from Fairfax, VA, the PHC Youth Music Academy Choir, the PHC Men’s Ensemble, and the PHC Chorale.

“I am most excited about the chance to collaborate with directors of fine musical programs who are inspiring their students to pursue artistic excellence which is enlivened by an active faith,” shares PHC’s Director of Music Dr. Steven McCollum.

The PHC Chorale, a primary music outlet for PHC students, puts on a Lessons & Carols Christmas concert and a spring concert as well. This invitational festival, however, builds a network of Christian educators with a common goal.

“We hope to be encouraged by and remain accountable to each other as we prepare the next generation of musical leaders,” Dr. McCollum says.

At the end of the concert, all the choirs will combine into one massive ensemble of 130 singers to perform the music practiced together during the day-long festival. Please consider stepping out to PHC for this fantastic event.
