ULtimate PHC Packing LIst

Wondering what to bring to college? We’ve got you covered! If you’re flying to school and unable to take more than a few suitcases, we recommend buying some of these items when you arrive. This packing list is a great way to help you decrease the stress of preparing for college.

School Essentials

Make the most out of your studying and class time by having all the things you need to take good notes and study efficiently.


  • Planner or calendar

  • Pilot G2 Pens

  • Colorful Highlighters

  • Sticky Notes (both small and large)

  • Mini Stapler

  • Binders or Folders

  • Index cards

  • Sharpies (multiple colors)

  • Tape: scotch and duct tape

  • Messenger bag or large tote

  • Laptop

  • Legal Notepads (or grab some from the PHC Bookstore)

Dorm Life

Make your dorm room cozy with all the comforts of home.

  • Floor lamp

  • Power strip

  • Small Whiteboard

  • Laundry basket/bag

  • Clothes hangers

  • Mattress protector

  • Sheets, pillows and pillowcases, and blankets (for extra-long twin mattress)

  • Shoe Organizer (hangs on the back of your closet door)

  • Thermos and/or Mug

  • Silverware, plate, bowl

  • Mini fridge (optional)

  • Microwave (optional)

  • Kettle for boiling water

  • French Press for the coffee lovers

  • Desk Organizers

  • String lights

Bathroom Items

It’s helpful to organize all of your bathroom essentials to keep track of it all and keep things tidy.

  • Plastic shower caddy or shower shelf

  • Flip-flops

  • Hair products

  • Skin products

  • Toiletries

  • Two sets of bathroom linens

  • Shower mat

Wardrobe

PHC has a business casual dress code during school hours, be sure to pack plenty of professional clothes so you have a wide variety to choose from.

  • Shoes: be sure to bring at least a few pairs of professional footwear. You will be walking a lot to and from class so be sure that they’re sturdy and comfortable

  • Snow Boots (for those chilly winter mornings)

  • Casual Clothes: it’s important to have a good selection of comfy clothes to slip into during off-hours.

  • Casual Shoes: like tennis shoes or sneakers

  • Sportswear: be prepared for the dorm football games, homecoming events, or other athletic activities on campus

  • Sturdy Winter Coat

  • Underwear and socks: bring plenty, with the hustle of school sometimes laundry might pile up

  • Business Casual Attire: bring out the slacks, jackets, suits, classy button-ups, and pencil skirts!

Important Items

Cleaning supplies are essential for the monthly Grey-glove room inspections, that, and other odds and ends to make living on campus a quality experience

  • Disinfectant wipes

  • Small trash can

  • Paper towels

  • Laundry detergent and dryer sheets

  • Electronic wipes for your or laptop

  • Important cards and documents: insurance, passport, IDs, etc.

  • Umbrella: you can rent one at the security desk but it’s always nice to have your own

  • Small First Aid Kit

  • Diffuser: optional but it keeps the room smelling nice
