Since 2005 student members have produced and directed several web series, which typically feature four episodes a year.  Increasingly, SMN has focused on producing short films, assisting Dr. Veith's film class and sponsoring student film exposes.  Produced genres include music videos, love stories, documentaries, dramas and mockumentaries.

Streaming Media Network is led by its Executive Board--Chief Executive Officer Tony Cavicchi ('13), Chief Operating Officer Cordell Asbenson ('13), and Chief Financial Officer Steven Page ('13)--and Executive Director Iain Armstrong ('12).

Student Chorale

Chorale presents an exciting opportunity for students to use their voices to create a vocal masterpiece. The PHC Chorale performs annually for the students and community members at concerts, Commencement, and special chapel services. Last spring, the PHC Chorale partnered with Lancaster Bible College for the world premiere of Mendelssohn’s Elijah in Spanish. Directed by Dr. Steve McCollum, involvement in Chorale is worth one academic credit.

Strings Ensemble

The Strings Ensemble was formed by PHC students in 2005 and since that time, members have gathered to practice their instruments as time has allowed. The group performs almost every year at PHC’s “Harmonicomedy,” and in 2007, the group performed pre-show music for the Liberty Ball. In the future, the group hopes to create an advanced string quartet.

National Model United Nations

Each year, PHC students form a delegation to travel to New York City, NY to represent their assigned countries (and College) in simulated United Nations committee meetings. They prepare throughout the year for the international spring conference, during which they work to write, debate, and pass resolutions to practice solving world-wide problems. In 2008 and 2010, Patrick Henry College was recognized as an Outstanding Delegation (the highest award possible) throughout the conference, and also received numerous individual awards. This club provides an excellent opportunity to network with other students from around the world and practice the art of diplomacy. James Nelson currently serves as the club's President. Questions concerning the club can be directed to James at phcnmun2012@gmail.com.

Cuttlefish

"Touched, we pour forth ink," is the motto of Cuttlefish, the literary journal produced monthly by Patrick Henry College's Literature department. The journal, designed to be a literary voice of the campus, contains student submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and artwork chosen by the editorial team, itself composed of students.

Whether or not their pieces get published, every author will undergo a one-on-one editing process with the section editors before the issue is released. As pieces are polished, both writers and editors have opportunities to grow in experience in their fields.

Cuttlefish, (formerly called Scratch), was instituted in the 08-09 school year by Brian Dutze (Literature, 2010), and has Dr. Steven Hake as the faculty sponsor. Mary Sue Daoud is the current editor-in-chief.

All questions are welcomed. Email cuttlefish.phc@gmail.com for more information.
