Financial Aid Officer

Young Christian College is looking for a Financial Aid Officer who will thrive while advising, recruiting, and developing relationships with current & future PHC students and their families. Patrick Henry College is a conservative Christian liberal arts college located in beautiful Northern Virginia. The College is looking for someone who loves the Lord and is excited about serving Him through serving Christian students who want to shape the culture for Christ and for liberty. Chief Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute the Financial Aid Annual Plan via policy, the financial aid databases and files, and in coordination with the Finance and Registrar departments

  • Counsel current & prospective students and parents regarding scholarship or loan issues, awarding scholarships, certifying external loan packages, or completing College Financial Planning meetings with families

  • Manage the Pursuit of Excellence scholarship student program—volunteer activities 2 times per semester

  • Responsible for tracking the Endowed Scholarship Program, ensuring all available funds are given for the current year by the Scholarship Review Committee

  • Track, print, and maintain annual Family Financial Profiles for use in the Scholarship Review Committee. Contact families with any issues or discrepancies in the submitted profile

  • Maintain physical files and digital records of student scholarship and financial information. Respond to requests from other departments for annual reports while protecting the confidentiality of information

  • Supervise, manage, and improve the Student Ambassador Call Center

  • Manage and oversee on-site Forensics tournaments (Stoa & NCFCA), meeting with stakeholders, and executing the events

  • Mentor Financial Aid Probation students when they fall below the 2.6 GPA threshold

  • Assist in interviewing applicants, leading Campus Visits/tours, and traveling by car/airplane to recruitment events

  • 100% cross-trained with the Data Analyst & assists with data analysis projects as needed

  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Recruitment

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must hold a four-year college degree or commensurate experience

  • Commitment to fostering a culture of high-touch client engagement, recruitment excellence, professionalism, confidentiality, and high-velocity output within the Admissions Department

  • Excels in communication, collaboration, and negotiation, offering a customer service–oriented approach and results-driven mindset. Feedback-oriented mindset and willingness to learn and grow

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external constituents

  • Computer-related skills, including strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Demonstrates strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills, with the ability to balance routine tasks and long-term projects while meeting specific deadlines

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to organize systems and spreadsheets 

Physical / Mental / Emotional Requirements

  • Primarily office work environment & student interaction

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds

  • Must be able to make quick decisions with available information

  • Must be calm in stressful situations and show good judgment in decision-making

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative manner with excellent self-discipline
