Dr. Roberta Bayer is a Professor of Political Philosophy at Patrick Henry College, Purcellville, Virginia. Her doctorate in Political Philosophy was earned at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana. Previous graduate degrees were completed at the Center for Medieval Studies, University of Toronto, and the London School of Economics, England. She has recently contributed essays to a special issue on George Parkin Grant in Cosmos and Taxis: Studies in Emergent Order and Organization, and to a special issue on Eric Mascall in the Journal of Anglican Studies. Other essays appear in Humanum, Ad Fontes, Studia Gilsoniana, and Life and Learning (University Faculty for Life). Her book reviews are found in the International Philosophical Quarterly and Providence, and she has given invited lectures and numerous conference papers. Dr. Bayer’s areas of current interest include the Scottish Enlightenment and the American Founding, as well as Canadian philosopher George Parkin Grant. From 2008-2018 she edited Anglican Way, a magazine of the Prayer Book Society of the USA. She has also edited a festschrift entitled Reformed and Catholic: Essays in Honor of the Reverend Dr. Peter Toon. Dr Bayer was the Garwood Visiting Fellow in the James Madison Program at Princeton University 2018-2019, and teaches courses on the history of Western political thought, ancient and modern.
