Full-time Position: Director of Finance and Administration

Location: on-site in Purcellville, VA

 

Director of Finance and Administration

Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia, invites applications for the position of Director of Finance and Administration.   This is a full-time, on-site position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • Acquire or have a CPA (preferred but not immediately required)

  • Five (5) years of progressive leadership/administrative responsibility

  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience

  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Knowledge of budget preparation, monitoring, and implementation

  • Ability to analyze problems, identify effective solutions, and take appropriate action using sound judgment and independent decision-making.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws, policies, and procedures related to college operations and financial administration

  • Experience in Human Resource Management

  • Knowledge of and experience with public or higher education financial systems

  • Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, TEAMs, and Great Plains Dynamics

JOB DUTIES:

  • Reports to the President and serves as the College’s principal financial officer and Board-appointed Treasurer, overseeing all aspects of the College’s financial and fiscal management

  • Partners with the Executive VP on long-term strategy and annual financial planning

  • Focuses on improving and supporting the student experience through effective financial leadership

  • Provides strategic financial insight and leadership directing all financial and administrative operations, including:

    • Accounting and finance

    • Strategic planning for capital improvements and long-range financial health

    • Budgeting

    • Human resources, payroll, and risk management

  • Maintains compliance with audit standards, internal controls, and state/federal regulations

  • Advises on policy updates and manages external vendor relationships to support financial objectives

  • Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends
