Full-time Position: Director of Finance & Administration

Location: on-site in Purcellville, VA

 

Director of Finance & Administration

Patrick Henry College invites applications for a mission-driven financial leader to serve as Director of Finance & Administration. This role functions as the College’s principal financial officer and a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering closely with the President and senior leadership to steward the institution’s financial future.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to combine strategic financial leadership with Christ-centered mission impact, helping guide an institution dedicated to preparing students for leadership and service.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Finance & Administration will:

  • Provide strategic financial leadership, including long-range planning and capital strategy

  • Lead all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting

  • Oversee human resources, payroll, and risk management functions

  • Ensure compliance with audits, internal controls, and regulatory requirements

  • Deliver clear financial insights to support executive decision-making

  • Manage external relationships with auditors, vendors, and financial partners


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Five or more years of progressive leadership/administrative responsibility experience

  • Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Knowledge of budget preparation, monitoring, and implementation

  • Ability to analyze problems, identify effective solutions, and take appropriate action using sound judgment and independent decision-making.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED

  • CPA (or willingness to obtain)

  • Two or more years of supervisory experience

  • Familiarity with HR management and compliance

  • Knowledge of and experience with public or higher education financial systems

  • Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Teams, and Great Plains Dynamics
