Patrick Henry College is seeking an HVAC & Building Systems Supervisor to maintain and care for campus HVAC and building systems, which are essential for creating a comfortable and welcoming environment where college students can focus on learning and personal growth in Christ.
Responsibilities include tracking and performing scheduled preventive maintenance to keep all facilities systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) operating efficiently. Conduct regular inspections, servicing, and proactive repairs to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime. Support facility upkeep by assisting with general maintenance tasks and grounds as needed. Coordinate and supervise work performed by outside contractors to ensure high standards and timely service.
Troubleshoot and oversee repairs of faulty HVAC and building systems
Organize, manage, and supervise the work performed by outside contractors to uphold high standards of service
Obtain and carefully review quotes, bids, and contracts to ensure accuracy and completeness of all documents
Supervise and manage outside contractors for various building trades
Respond on-site to after-hours emergency calls
Observe and monitor the general condition and appearance of all physical plant assets, proactively keeping them in excellent functional and aesthetic order
Assist the Director of Campus Facilities as needed
Must be able to enthusiastically subscribe to the College’s Statement of Faith
Knowledge of facilities maintenance; reasoning skills sufficient to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively in both emergency and non-emergency situations; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, and to work well with others
General knowledge, skills, and working abilities in the building trades (carpentry, lighting, mechanical, plumbing, masonry, etc.) is preferred
Must be mechanically inclined. A strong understanding of electrical systems and electronic circuitry is a plus.
Able to handle numerous projects simultaneously. Team player.
A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (i.e., no moving violations within the past 24 months) is required.
Full range of motion; ability to see clearly (with corrective lenses, if necessary) at close range and long distances; ability to hear and discern human speech, and other sounds and noises; ability to smell, detect, and discern odors; ability to repetitively lift and carry 75 pounds; ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; ability to work extended hours and shifts
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of an HVAC Technical School program preferred.
Computer literate; experience using email, MS Word, and MS Excel needed
Internal: Superiors, subordinates, students, staff, and faculty.

External: Contractors, vendors, parents, patrons, trustees, donors, and citizens.
