Brian Roynestad: Coach
Coach Brian Roynestad entered his first year as Men's Head Basketball Coach at Patrick Henry College in the 2023-2024 season. Coach Roynestad has coached basketball for 40 years and has experience coaching baseball, softball, and soccer as well. He has coached interscholastic high school basketball (both boys and girls) for the last 15 years at New Life Christian School (Frederick, MD), Academy of the Holy Cross (Kensington, MD), Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, MD), and Biglerville High School (PA). In 2021 Coach Roynestad retired as a Deputy Sheriff after serving 34 years with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MD). He is currently serving as an Area Representative for Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Montgomery County. Coach Roynestad and his wife, Bonnie, reside in Damascus, MD. They attend Greenridge Baptist Church (Clarksburg, MD) where he has served in many capacities. They have 5 children and 7 grandchildren.

Aileen Maknati: Coach
Coach Aileen Maknati enters her first season as the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball Team at Patrick Henry College, bringing with her a strong background as both a player and a coach.
As a former player at Marymount University, Coach Maknati played a key role in leading the team to a CAC Championship during her debut season (2012-2013), finishing with an impressive 24-5 record and an NCAA tournament appearance. Marymount continued its success during the 2015-2016 season, going 23-6 and advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament. During her four years at Marymount, they posted an overall 82-31 record.
Transitioning into coaching, Maknati returned to Marymount as the Assistant Head Coach for the 2018-2019 season. The team posted a 22-5 record, secured the Atlantic East Conference Championship, and earned another NCAA tournament berth.
Off the court, Coach Maknati has volunteered with the Special Olympics and is an active member of Mosaic Christian Church. She also holds a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Boston University. Coach Maknati cherishes time with her husband, Joshua, and their daughter, Isla.
Founded in 2001, the soccer program at Patrick Henry College fills a crucial place in student life at PHC. For some, playing soccer provides a necessary athletic outlet amid the rigors of academics. For others, no semester is complete without cheering for our Sentinels in blue on the soccer field.

Since taking the helm of the Sentinel Women’s Soccer program in the 2022 season, Coach Patrick has guided one of the greatest improvements in program history. Before his arrival, the team had endured eight straight winless seasons. Under his leadership, the Sentinels have rebuilt steadily and deliberately, growing into a competitive, resilient, and confident team.

With over 10 years of collegiate coaching experience—spanning NJCAA Division I, NJCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III—Coach Patrick brings both depth and versatility to the program. His professional preparation is supported by multiple advanced coaching licenses and diplomas, including:

United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma
United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level II Certification
United Soccer Coaches “Collegiate Coach” Diploma

Coach Patrick currently lives in Purcellville, VA with his wife Kimberly and two children.
