Theology of the Bible II (BIB213)

Course Description

This course is a continuation of Theology of the Bible I. The doctrines covered in this portion of the class are the doctrine of Christ, the doctrine of redemption, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, the doctrine of the church, and the doctrine of the future. Students will learn the intricacies of the various important doctrines, compare the perspectives of different denominations, and make application of the doctrines to life.

Prerequisite: BIB203

Additional Details

Students will read from the primary text of Scripture, the book Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem, and Martin Luther’s classic On Christian Liberty, as well as other brief assigned readings. Students will complete three exams, a final exam, and write a research paper. They will also contribute weekly to threaded online discussion forums. 
 
While regular participation on the discussion forums is required, there are no time-specific or scheduled chat sessions or online class meetings. All instruction is asynchronous. (For example, students may participate in discussion forums any time during the week.)
 
Some of the weekly lecture and research material falls under the following units: Christology: Who Is Jesus Christ & What Soteriology: How is the Saving Work of Christ Applied to the Believer?, Pneumatology: Who is the Holy Spirit & What Does He Do?, Ecclesiology: What Does it Mean to Be the People of God?, and Eschatology: What is Last Things & Why Should We Study It?
 
Completion of BIB203 is a prerequisite for this course. Students may not take BIB213 until they complete Theology of the Bible I
