Course Description
This course is a study of the major doctrines of the Christian faith. The doctrines covered are the doctrine of the Word of God, the doctrine of God, the doctrine of man, and the doctrine of sin. Students will learn the intricacies of the various important doctrines, compare the perspectives of different denominations, and make application of the doctrines to life.

Additional Details
Students will read from the primary text of Scripture, the book Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem, and A.W. Tozer’s classic Knowledge of the Holy, as well as other brief assigned readings. Students will complete three exams, a final exam, and write a research paper. They will also contribute weekly to threaded online discussion forums.
While regular participation on the discussion forums is required, there are no time-specific or scheduled chat sessions or online class meetings. All instruction is asynchronous. (For example, students may participate in discussion forums any time during the week.)
Some of the weekly lecture and research material is as follows: Prolegomena: Introduction to Theology, How God is Known (His Self-Disclosure in Scripture & Creation), Four Key Theological Characteristics of Scripture, Theology Proper: What God is Like (His Character, Attributes, & Triunity), The Triunity of God: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit, What God Does (Universe, Man, & Providence), Creation: Man (as Male and Female), Man as a Material and Immaterial Being, Hamartiology: What Man Has Become (Sin & the Fall), What is Sin?, Sources & Avenues of Sin.
Note: BIB203 is a prerequisite for BIB213. Students planning on taking Theology of the Bible II must first complete Theology of the Bible I.
