“I support a number of outstanding organizations, but I don’t know of any that are more strategic than Patrick Henry College. We need more Christian leaders capable of addressing the complex issues facing our nation today.”

--James R. Leininger, M.D., Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Kinetic Concepts, Inc., Patrick Henry College Trustee

Maintaining Our Financial Independence

The cost of building and operating a college far exceeds tuition revenue, which is why institutions rely so heavily on financial support from alumni, endowments, and taxpayers. However, Patrick Henry College, which began operations in 2000, does not have a large base of alumni or a substantial endowment.

Over time these sources will develop, but at present they are not able to provided a significant amount of revenue. In addition, we do not accept funding from government, or any other source that includes terms which supersede the authority of our Board of Trustees or conflict with our foundational statements.

PHC operates without debt, adding new facilities and programs only as funds are available. Because of this we rely heavily on the generous giving of God-inspired families across the country to meet our financial obligations.

If you would like to support the mission of Patrick Henry College to train the next generation of Christian leaders, you can make a secure online gift by credit card here. Please see some of the specific areas of opportunity listed below.

Annual Scholarship Fund

Patrick Henry College accepts no government assistance of any kind. However, 90% of our students receive some form of need-based or merit-based scholarship. These scholarships are funded entirely by private annual gifts to the college. Many students would not be able to attend without the assistance provided by your gifts.

In addition, the Annual Scholarship Fund is used to attract and retain top teaching faculty and administrators, expand our selection of materials in the library, continue our excellence in debate, moot court and forensics, provide support for every facet of the student experience, and support various operational needs.

The Barbara Hodel Student Life Center

As of February 2008, funding for the Barbara Hodel Student Life Center has been guaranteed!
A generous family has committed to provide the funds necessary for completion. As a result, we have just told our builder to go full speed ahead to completion.  Of course, the donor family anticipates that other major donors will ultimately join them in funding the building, but their guarantee means that the building will be fully funded and open for use by the start of the fall 2009 semester.
