From earning the best grade possible for academic strength by ACTA to a double moot court championship, and from hiring our first full-time Athletics Director to amazing progress on our newest dorm, the Lord has been so faithful to us as we endeavor to do all things "for Christ and for Liberty!" PHC wins its 13th national Oral Advocacy championship with one team taking 1st place in National Oral Advocacy and another taking 1st place in Brief Writing. Overall, three PHC teams placed among the top eight in the nation and won seven of the top 25 speaker awards.
Four PHC students earn second place in the final round of GLOBAL 2023, an international case competition where students compete with their own solutions to a real-life business case that is judged by a panel of industry-leading professionals.
Patrick Henry College juniors Hannah Bruck and Eden Mackie, are selected as the winning presenters at the International Holistic Justice Challenge hosted by California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, Calif. on May 5th and 6th! This was the first event of its kind hosted by Cal Poly, with the next iteration expected to occur in the fall of 2023. Read more about the competition here.
Additionally, four PHC students—Nicholas Storz, Julianne Kidd, Rachel Greenlee, and Gage Neudigate—compete for the title of Champions in a prestigious academic competition hosted by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States of America in Washington D.C. Representing a total of 16 states, twenty-seven colleges across the U.S. (including Columbia University and University of Texas at Austin, who placed second and third, respectively) compete for the Championship title. PHC is one of only seven schools to advance two teams to the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) National Championship Tournament—PHC's 3rd year in a row achieving this distinction! Amber and Navy teams earn 8th place and honorable mention titles, respectively. Read more of the story here!
Dr. Ben Carson, renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, speaks at PHC’s Commencement Ceremony. He begins, “Patrick Henry is a fantastic place. It has a relatively short history, but look at all that’s happened already.” He congratulates the graduates, charging them to live by the godly principles of loving their neighbor and caring for those who can’t care for themselves.
He stresses the importance of “developing your God-given talents to the utmost so that you become valuable to the people around you and having values and principles that govern your life … If we do that,” Dr. Carson says, “not only will we have a great nation, but we will have one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Out of 1,100 colleges and universities, PHC is one of seven colleges to receive a 100% rating from the American Council of Trustees and Alumni’s “What Will They Learn?” Project. PHC receives this perfect rating because the curriculum includes all seven subjects required by ACTA. Read more about PHC's ACTA rating here.
Patrick Henry College hires Ethan Patrick as its first full-time Athletic Director. PHC continues to attract strong believers who are also scholar-athletes. Director Patrick will oversee the PHC Men's and Women's Basketball and the Men's and Women's Soccer programs in addition to any new intercollegiate sports added in the future. Patrick Henry College's American Politics and Policy Program releases its newest publication, the Public Square, which exists to promote discourse on politics and its integration with worldview by facilitating the exchange of ideas about policies, trends, and political movements. Thank you for your continued prayer support for the construction of the new dormitory! There have been some challenges along to way, threatening our aim to open the dormitory to young ladies in January, but God has been faithful through each of them and we've been amazed to see His hand in this project.
