PHC Falls in a Defensive Battle

2/9/24

Your Patrick Henry Sentinels faced off once again against Williamson College of the Trades. Searching for a shot of redemption, they came up short 44-52.

It was a lack of offense and a wall of defense that defined this low-scoring game. The Sentinels struggled to get in a rhythm offensively. They had several possessions where Williamson’s solid defense forced shot clock violations and five-second calls. Rob Canfield was the team’s leading scorer with only 13. A key for Williamson’s success is that they managed to keep big man Penrod, averaging 20 a game, to only 4 points.

Patrick Henry’s defense was also their strong spot in the game. They too forced shot clock violations, low percentage shots, and turnovers leading to transition buckets. They demonstrated success in zone and man defense. Tenacious D kept PHC in the game.

It was a battle of defense and Williamson managed to be just that much better to achieve victory. It is tough to lose two seasonal games to the same team, but with a young squad that has some exciting incoming freshmen, PHC is going to be a tough force for them to compete with next year.
