PHC played against Frederick CC in Tuesday night’s tough loss. Unfortunately, the taller and more athletic Cougars outdid them 111-63.

For a while, things were looking good for the Sentinels who kept them within striking distance. Despite the speed, agility, and size of Frederick, PHC managed to keep them to 40 points by the end of the first half and were down by a reasonable 12 points. The defense was looking good, especially against a very tough team. If it wasn’t for poor inside shooting and careless turnovers, the score could have easily been flipped. At halftime PHC was shooting a splendid 47% from beyond the arc but a measly 30% inside.

The Cougars were clearly a little uncomfortable and surprised by their slim lead in the first half. However, they turned a switch in the second half, knocking down triples and getting their fair share of slam dunks to get the crowd excited. Frederick’s 12-point lead soon turned into a 30-point lead with no sign of slowing down.

This was definitely one of the toughest opponents they would play all year, and although they were disappointed, they were not discouraged. #5 Noah Jackson, a gazelle-intense freshman with immense potential said, “It was disappointing because we did not play up to the standards we were hoping to but we’re looking to learn from it and come out and do better in each of our next games.”
