These two men played significant roles in PHC's history, and their legacy continues to shape our mission today.  David Shedd is a former U.S. intelligence officer who served as Acting Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency before retiring from federal service. He later spent seven years teaching government courses as a[ professor of Strategic Intelligence ](https://www.phc.edu/news/professor-david-shedd-retires)and served as an advisor for the [Strategic Intelligence Program](https://www.phc.edu/strategic-intelligence-national-security-major).  Hodel held posts as U.S. Secretary of Energy and Secretary of the Interior in the Reagan Administration. He served as the CEO of Focus on the Family from 2003–2005 and has long been a faithful supporter of PHC. Hodel and his late wife, [Barbara Hodel](https://www.phc.edu/in-memoriam/babara-hodel)—an original trustee of the college—both contributed significantly to PHC’s founding, community, and expansion.
