David Shedd is a former U.S. intelligence officer who served as Acting Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency before retiring from federal service. He later spent seven years teaching government courses as a professor of Strategic Intelligence and served as an advisor for the Strategic Intelligence Program

Hodel held posts as U.S. Secretary of Energy and Secretary of the Interior in the Reagan Administration. He served as the CEO of Focus on the Family from 2003–2005 and has long been a faithful supporter of PHC.

Hodel and his late wife, Barbara Hodel—an original trustee of the college—both contributed significantly to PHC’s founding, community, and expansion. The Barbara Hodel Center, one of the main buildings on campus, honors her lasting impact on students and alumni.

David Shedd: The Great Heist

The Great HeistThe Great Heist: China's Epic Campaign to Steal America's Secrets (co-authored with Andrew Badger), exposes China’s large-scale theft of Western data. The book is currently a bestseller in Amazon’s Asian Politics and National & International Security categories.

Former intelligence chief David Shedd and national security expert Andrew Badger detail Beijing’s systematic effort to erode the West’s technological and economic advantage through coordinated espionage targeting defense contractors and major technology firms, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Google, T-Mobile, and Tesla.

Drawing on firsthand accounts from intelligence officials, policymakers, and victims, they argue that decades of Western complacency enabled China’s rapid ascent, and they present a strategy to confront this evolving economic and security challenge.
