The more specific your search terms, the more specific the results will be.  ***For our Distance Learning (DL) students, excerpts from print items held in the on campus library can be provided on request***. If you are accessing electronic resources from off-campus and are required to log in, use your student portal user name and password to gain access. If you have difficulty with the website or accessing any resources, please let library staff know by email at** [askalibrarian@phc.edu](mailto:askalibrarian@phc.edu)** or ** [library@phc.edu](mailto:library@phc.edu).**  Professional library assistance is available on campus, by phone at 540-441-8400, or by email at [askalibrarian@phc.edu](mailto:askalibrarian@phc.edu). ## Professor Guidelines Presentation:  This course requires a 10 minute oral presentation on the usage in a particular country, particular time in history, or particular campaign, focusing on kusic as propaganda for political purposes. Plan to articular whether the usage was moral and what he or she advocates as an alternative moral usage.  Research paper: A research paper of 7-8 pages (recommended, although of no maximum length) is assigned. The "suggested topic" is the political songs of, or leading up to, the Civil War OR World War I using a minimum of 6 scholarly sources. Resources are available in the library and online where you may use digital repositories of songs now available online. With permission of the instructor, you may elect to choose a specific work and composer and focus on the political aspects.  ## Databases: online audio access and journal articles - **[Naxos Music Library](https://ezproxy.phc.edu/login?url=https://phc.nml3.naxosmusiclibrary.com/) **is a great place to start to locate a piece of music that you love for that research paper or to just listen to while you study. Naxos offers an extensive online classical music collection over 46,000 CD's with over 653,000 tracks for your listening pleasure.  - **[ProQuest](https://ezproxy.phc.edu/login?url=http://www.proquest.com/pqrl?accountid=13113),[JSTOR ](https://ezproxy.phc.edu/login?url=https://www.jstor.org)**and **[Academic Search Premier](https://ezproxy.phc.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/direct.asp?db=aph)** access journal articles on a wide range of topics.
