Available courses include Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Economics, Institutional Economics, and International Economics. As technology expands in every sector of society, enormous amounts of data are being generated. Mathematics and data analytics have become essential tools for today’s leaders to gain decision-making insight into trends and available strategies for their organizations. Students will study advanced mathematics classes in Statistics, Econometrics, Differential Equations, Integral Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics. In addition to Economics and Advanced Mathematics, students will also have the opportunity to grow in their business acumen skills while learning from experienced senior executives. Students will learn a broad range of concepts and roles essential to the efficient functioning of an economic enterprise. Available courses in this arena are Competitive Strategy, Leadership & Organizational Behavior, Ethics, Business Methods & Entrepreneurship, and Financial Analysis. Students have the opportunity to learn from real-world experience through internships and the study of Harvard Business case studies. Undergirding these specific aspects of the major is the Core Curriculum, which teaches the historical emphasis on free markets in American economics as well as fundamental political theory, logic, and biblical theology. The Core Curriculum emphasizes good writing and verbal communication skills. PHC created the Patrick Henry Investment Group (PHIG) within its EBA Program to provide students with real-world, hands-on investment and leadership experience. PHIG is a student-led organization that manages an investment fund, overseen by the Director of the EBA Program and owned by Patrick Henry College. The Official Charter incorporates the best practices of 15 student-led investment funds from across the nation. The investment program, an educational instrument within the EBA Program, empowers students to participate in investment decisions, while tempering those decisions with the wisdom and experience of senior members, financial professionals serving as Investment Advisors, and the PHIG Program Director. BUS443 (Financial Analysis: Case Study Methodology) is one of those courses. This course introduces corporate financial analysis with an emphasis on company valuations and financial statements such as Cash Flow, Balance Sheet and Income Statement. For the final exam, each student must learn how to create and submit an entire business plan for the start-up and/or acquisition of a new company or franchise of an existing company. These four students comprised the Executive Team in the spring of 2023 that ran the student-led [Patrick Henry Investment Group (PHIG)](https://www.phc.edu/learnphc/ph-investment-group?hsLang=en), a key component of the Economic & Business Analytics Program at PHC. According to their web page, “GLOBAL is an international case competition and CBS Case Competition’s response to an increasingly digitized world;” it is the largest open case competition in the world, with more than 3,600 students from 90 nationalities participating.
