Tegucigalpa, Honduras

PHC’s Honduras team served with World Gospel Outreach, an organization that partners with local church to provide free pop-up medical clinics in Tegucigalpa’s poorest neighborhoods. Everyone who received care had to participate in an evangelism session. At the end of each “brigade,” as the two-day medical clinics were called, WGO presented a list of everyone who accepted or recommitted to Christ to the church’s pastor so he could bring them into the fold. Team members loved getting to know the friendly Hondurans!

"I had just been praying that week that the Lord would make it clear what I was supposed to do next in Honduras. And He did. "
—Clayton Millhouse, Team Leader

Student Testimonies

Elyssa Edwards Honduras Missions Trip Patrick Henry College PHC“My favorite moment from the trip was watching people’s reactions as we helped them. From my perspective, we weren’t doing much - washing hair, giving them a few aspirin, some vitamins, cleaning their teeth, etc. - but it made their day. The Hondurans had a joy and contentment in simple things that is foreign to most Americans, and it was an honor to witness it."

Evie Fordham Honduras Missions Trip Patrick Henry College PHC“Getting to experience another culture and learn about how Christians in another country serve and worship God was eye-opening. I loved going to the church in the Tegucigalpa neighborhood of Israel del Norte and seeing how on fire all the church members were. I don’t feel so much like I taught anyone anything but that I learned.”

Elias Gavilan Honduras Missions Trip Patrick Henry College PHC“My trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras was an eye-opening experience. It provided me with the opportunity to immerse myself in a foreign culture and lifestyle for a week. Additionally, it offered me a new perspective on poverty and the effects of living in poverty. More importantly, this trip helped me in my own walk with God. It was truly amazing witnessing strong believers who lived in such challenging conditions. Talking to both translators and the patients that we helped, I heard a number of amazing stories and testimonies. I was truly blessed by this experience, and I will carry the lessons that I learned in Honduras with me for the rest of my life.”

Clayton Millhouse Honduras Missions Trip Patrick Henry College PHC“The trip was an idea the Lord gave me about two years ago. I sent a few emails, knocked on a few doors, but otherwise, it did not pan out. But when I was down in Honduras this past summer, there were several confirmations from different people that it was time for me to try to organize a trip down there. I was not even asking for the confirmation. I had just been praying that week that the Lord would make it clear what I was supposed to do next in Honduras. And he did."

The Organization: World Gospel Outreach

WGO is an organization that partners with local church to provide free pop-up medical clinics in Tegucigalpa’s poorest neighborhoods. Their mission is to Impact the faith of Christ followers through serving and evangelizing children and the poor. They are driven to pursue this vision because of three fundamental Biblical mandates:

1. To care for the poor, especially the widows and orphans (James 1:27).
2. To be fishers of men and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost (Matthew 4:19).
3. To be accountable before God for how we meet the needs of others (Matthew 25:31-46).
