Thomas G. Hungar is an attorney who practiced appellate, commercial, and constitutional litigation for nearly four decades in a variety of private practice and government roles. He was a partner in the Washington, DC, office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, served as a Deputy Solicitor General of the United States, and was General Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives. His practice focused on appeals in federal and state courts, and he also assisted clients with congressional investigations and complex trial court litigation matters. He has presented oral argument before the Supreme Court of the United States in 28 cases, including administrative law, admiralty, antitrust, communications, environmental, labor, patent, religious liberty, securities, tax, and trademark matters, and has appeared before numerous lower federal and state courts as well.
Mr. Hungar served as a law clerk for Justice Anthony Kennedy of the Supreme Court and Judge Alex Kozinski of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He received a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1987, and a B.S. magna cum laude in mathematics/computer science and economics from Willamette University in 1984.
