Daniel Maienshein is a Pennsylvania native who majored in both chemistry and mathematics at Grove City College. He began graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh, doing research with professors Peng Liu (computational organic chemistry reaction mechanistic studies) and Sanford Asher (photoacoustic instrument design and improvement of silica nanoparticle production). He finished his graduate studies in the mathematics department at the University of Pittsburgh, specializing in analysis and partial differential equations under the oversight of Juan Manfredi (viscosity solutions to a novel class of nonlinear equations). Daniel currently teaches math and chemistry courses at Patrick Henry College. Some of his side interests include philosophy of mathematics, analysis of stochastic processes, and playing the organ.
