Electronic Transfer

The simplest way to make a gift of stock (or other negotiable securities) is to contact your broker and request that shares be transferred from your account to PHC’s account at Vanguard Brokerage Services. To execute an electronic stock transfer, please follow these steps:

1. Contact our Office of Development to let us know that you plan to make a stock gift. (Phone: (toll free) 1-888-338-1776; Fax: 540.338.8707; Email: development@phc.edu) 2. Provide us with your name, contact information, the name of the stock, and the number of shares you are donating. 3. Instruct your broker to transfer the stock to PHC using our brokerage information below.

If you prefer to donate securities held in physical form, please send the certificate to our address below, and we will forward it to Vanguard Brokerage Services. You may need to complete and sign the back of the certificate first.

In most cases, the date on the confirmation of sale will coincide with the date that the shares were received by Patrick Henry College. However, there may be a delay, which is why we recommend that the market value should be determined in cooperation with your tax preparer for income tax purposes. Unless instructed otherwise, we will sell the shares as soon as they are received.
