The Rhetoric Ring does not provide exhaustive or authoritative treatments of rhetorical topics, it gives only thumbnail sketches of key concepts I find useful in my pedagogy. Insofar as this site aims to provide practical helps for those who need to craft speeches, and those who need to teach persons fundamental rhetorical skills, it is not especially academic. That is, I don't survey in any comprehensive way the total rhetorical landscape. However, one can be exposed here to a good share of the riches of rhetoric, and can receive enough background to fuel many years of reflection.I suggest that people new to rhetoric begin with the Overview and follow links from there. Classical educators will find a number of practical tips and curricular suggestions throughout the Rhetoric Ring and on my Courses pages.
