Thank you for your interest in Patrick Henry College Online. This distance learning program allows you to take advantage of most of Patrick Henry College’s classical liberal arts core curriculum, which serves as the cornerstone of all our academic programs. The core curriculum of 63 credits plus intermediate foreign language completes roughly the first two years of a four-year degree.
We are committed to replicating the on-campus classroom experience as much as possible through distance learning. PHC places considerable emphasis on dialogue between professor and student, and between students and their classmates. We seek to duplicate this method in our online programs. In order to accomplish this, we employ discussion forums and live chats that allow for optimum interaction between professors, students, and their classmates.
Consistent with our on-campus program, PHC DL classes are rigorous and challenging. Our freshman-level courses are roughly equivalent in difficulty to sophomore-level courses at most other colleges. Students should be aware that these courses require a significant time commitment. In order to complete each course successfully, the student should plan on at least four hours of study per credit per week. In other words, a three-credit course requires at least twelve hours of study per week.
