Latin I (LAT113) and Latin II (LAT123)

Catalog Description

  • Integrate careful language instruction with a Biblical worldview
  • Give you an advanced start on college Latin
  • Allow you to work at your individual pace
  • Supply the ready assistance of Patrick Henry's own professor of Latin

Latin I & II are each worth three college credits for successful completion. Latin I and II are not available through audit. Enrollment remains open!

Latin II is offered for those who have successfully completed Latin I.

The course is managed by Dr. McRoberts, who has received a doctorate in classics from UW Madison.

When you receive these materials, you may begin working on the lessons. As this is a traditional correspondence course, you will complete lessons sequentially and submit them via U.S. Mail. They will then be corrected, your grade will be recorded, and the assignments will be returned to you. There are 20 Lessons total in the course, and the Course Manual contains comprehensive instructions for the assignment and examination submission process.

A reasonable expectation is that you will finish the course in 16 weeks. If you have not completed all 20 Lessons and both the midterm and final exams by that point you will receive a grade of F for the course and will not be allowed to proceed to Latin II.

Note: This is a traditional correspondence course that implements some web-based elements. While it is possible to complete the course without computer or web access, these resources will greatly facilitate the student's success in and benefit from the Latin courses.
