Commencement speaker: Cal Thomas

Cal Thomas is America’s most widely syndicated op-ed columnist. He is a conservative American columnist and author syndicated in over 550 newspapers and is heard on over 300 radio stations.
He began his nearly 40-year journalism career in the 1970s working as a copyboy for NBC News in DC. He also worked as a general assignment reporter and anchor for KPRC-TV in Houston. For two years, he hosted his own show on CNBC and his program was nominated for a Cable ACE Award in 1995 as the best interview program on cable. He hosted After Hours With Cal Thomas on Fox News until 2005, and has written 10 books, including Mumbai Explained, Common Ground: How to Stop the Partisan War That Is Destroying America, The Death of Ethics in America, and The Things That Matter Most. His latest book is The Wit and Wisdom of Cal Thomas. Thomas has written extensively about political issues he supports, and has written much about America’s relations with Israel. For sixteen years his column was distributed by the Los Angeles Times Syndicate.
