Ancient History
July 3-9
Did the Romans fill the Colosseum with water in order to hold naval battles? How exactly did the Egyptians mummify people? Was there ever a race of giants roaming the earth? How did 300 Greeks resist an army of 300,000? Come to PHC’s history camp this summer to find answers to these quandaries and more! Lectures and discussions will focus on the Ancient Near East and the Mediterranean from creation to c. AD 1500. Students will travel through time with Bible-knowledge enhancing lessons that contextualize the history of the Old and New Testaments with the surrounding regions. Guest speakers will address the students on a variety of topics including anomalies of the ancient world and church history. Participants will also visit an antiquities museum for a close up look at some of history’s primary sources. At the conclusion of the week, campers will get to showcase their newfound knowledge in the climactic history bee.
