Blake Hudson

Blake Hudson
Vice President for Advancement

As Vice President for Advancement, Blake Hudson is responsible for overseeing all fund raising, communications, and enrollment functions of the College, including all marketing activities, advertising, annual giving, capital campaigns, corporate and foundation relations, donor services, major gifts, special events, enrollment goals, and alumni relations. He is a member of the President's Cabinet and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Patrick Henry College Foundation.

Before joining Patrick Henry in 2006, Mr. Hudson served as Director of Development for the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University. His previous positions include Assistant Director of Development for the southeast region for Campus Crusade for Christ, campus staff with Campus Crusade for Christ, and Industrial Engineer with Memphis Light, Gas, & Water.

Mr. Hudson is a graduate of Mississippi State University, earning a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in 1989. He and his wife live in the Purcellville area with their five children.


 

David Halbrook
Director of Communications

As Director of Communications, David Halbrook is responsible for planning and implementing the College's communications strategy, including advertising, publications, Internet, media relations, and internal and external messaging.

His 25-year career in print and broadcast journalism, book publishing, and corporate and para-church communications includes numerous awards, including a 1991 Pulitzer Prize nomination. He has co-authored four books, including 1997’s Sold Out, with Promise Keepers founder Bill McCartney, and served as Managing Editor of Promise Keepers Publications Department. Before joining Patrick Henry College in 2006, he served as East Coast Director of National News and Public Affairs, and as Executive Producer for the Beyond the News Weekend Journal, an in-depth weekly broadcast of Salem Communications, the nation’s largest Christian broadcasting corporation.

Mr. Halbrook has a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Colorado and an M.A. in Christian Communications from Louisiana Baptist University.

Mr. Halbrook resides in Warrenton, Va., with his wife, Francie, and four children, Caleb, Jeremy, Ashley Joy, and Natalie Elaine.


 
Janna Bowman
Director of Events

As Director of Events, Janna Bowman is responsible for creating, developing and implementing strategic events.

She has over 15 years of experience in tourism and the special event industry, serving both in the private and non-profit sector. She most recently served as National Director of Events for Prison Fellowship and Team Director for Operation Starting Line, a ministry of Prison Fellowship, creating evangelistic outreach events in prisons nationwide. Her experience includes event management consulting, tourism promotion and all aspects of special events from catering, festival management, logistics and media and promotion development. Ms. Bowman is a graduate of New Mexico State University, earning a B.B.A in Business Administration and a B.S. in Hospitality and Tourism and pursued her studies at The George Washington University, receiving a Masters in Tourism.


 
John Zareva
John Zareva
Development Officer - Annual Gift Stewardship

As Development Officer for Patrick Henry College, John Zareva is responsible for fundraising and constituent relations. Over the past several years he has worked in several different areas of both the profit and non-profit worlds. After serving as a pastor and chaplain at Gatewood Chapel in Dallas, the bulk of his experience has been in public policy in the private sector. He worked as a Senior Public Policy Consultant for a firm specializing in transportation related issues in Dallas, and as a development professional for a conservative policy organization.

Mr. Zareva is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, earning a Master of Theology Degree, and is a member of several professional organizations. He and his wife, Sharon, have been married for 15 years, and live in Stephens City, Va., with their twin daughters, Rebecca and Rachel.


 
Art Cox
Graphic Designer

As Graphic Designer, Art Cox works in the Office of Communications, creating promotional materials for the college, including brochures, viewbooks, search pieces, catalogs, advertisements, and interactive audio/ visual resources. He also serves as the college photographer and assists with web site design.

Mr. Cox joined Patrick Henry College in July of 2000 after working for CCP Bayou Printing, a commercial printshop in northwest Florida. As Senior Graphic Designer at CCP, he began as one of three employees in 1994 and helped it grow into a commercial business with a staff of 10 (including three designers), a four-color press, and a bindery department. His designs won various awards, including a local silver Addy.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Mr. Cox holds a B.A. in Communications. He also served overseas with the United States Army from 1986 to 1988.

Mr. Cox resides in Winchester, Virginia, with his wife, Mary, and their six sons and one daughter.



 
Martha Walter
Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Advancement

As the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Advancement, Martha Walter is responsible for administrative duties for the Office of Advancement and processes gift donations.

The newest member of the Team, Martha joined PHC in May of 2006. Over the past years she has worked primarily for non-profit organizations. Her most recent employment was at Christian Fellowship Church in Ashburn, Virginia, the largest non-denominational church in Loudoun County.  She served as the Administrative Assistant to Congregational Care Ministries and the Director of Women’s Ministries.  She also served as the Coordinator for Chuck Colson’s Office at Prison Fellowship Ministries.

Mrs. Walter graduated with high honors from Mount Olive College, Mount Olive, NC with a Certificate in Secretarial Science.  She resides in Purcellville, VA with her husband Darryl. 


 
Sarah Pride
Editorial Assistant/Web Content Specialist

Sarah is David Halbrook’s assistant. She operates at PHC as an internal journalist, researching and writing editorial content for the website and for promotional materials. She also works with other members of the Development team to produce the Trumpet of Liberty, the alumni e-newsletter, and other publications.

Sarah graduated from Patrick Henry in 2007 as a Literature major. Before and during her time at PHC, she wrote for Practical Homeschooling magazine and researched hundreds of homeschool products for Mary Pride’s Complete Guide to Getting Started in Homeschooling


 
Tom Ziemnick
Development Officer - Major Gift Stewardship

As Development Officer for Patrick Henry College, Tom Ziemnick is responsible for fundraising, constituent relations, and major gift stewardship.

For the 12 years prior to joining Patrick Henry in 2007, Tom was involved in the aviation and coatings industries as a manager and sales representative in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before that, he was a Flight Instructor at Emery Aviation College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Mr. Ziemnick is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, earning a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics, and Emery Aviation College, obtaining an A.O.S. Certificate in Aviation Technology.

He and his wife, Nancy, reside in Purcellville, Virginia where they homeschool their two sons, Kyle and Christopher.
