Macbeth is Shakespeare's compelling story of one man yielding to his own passions, and his wife's ambitions. Evil and its inevitable consequences are powerfully illustrated in this dark tale of murder, deception, and individual choice. Eden Troupe's Macbeth is set in early-medieval Scotland, as the old pagan order battles with new Christian influence. Jonathan Bales as Macbeth brings to the stage energy and experience in both drama and fencing; Emily Thomson (formerly Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing) skillfully plays the pitiless Lady Macbeth. These two, bound by blood, walk a grim road framed by the ever-present malevolence of the three Wyrd Sisters, the angry heroism of Macduff, the betrayed friendship of Banquo, and the fated coming of Birnam Wood.
