Nearly 40 soccer players, ages 8 to 13, from Purcellville and throughout Loudoun County participated in this week’s soccer camp at Patrick Henry College, led by PHC women’s soccer coach John Regan. The camp featured an advanced curriculum and attracted “players really wanting to improve on the skill level and work very hard to learn new ideas,” Regan said. “It required them to concentrate and learn the lessons with their best effort.” Given the intense heat and humidity during the week, the camp shifted activities as needed from the soccer and softball fields to the air-conditioned Barbara Hodel Center gymnasium, offering a variety of training, concentrated skills development, and games.
“The use of the gym on the very hot days allowed the players to maintain a high energy level for learning and provided safety from extreme conditions,” Regan added. “”Most of the players and parents have driven by the College on several occasions and are now experiencing first-hand this wonderful campus.” Another soccer camp with Coach Regan is planned from August 8 to 12.
