Kucks Camp Description
Kucks Camp is named in honor of Patrick Henry College’s highly esteemed and much-loved professor of Physics, Dr. Michael J. Kucks. During this week, campers explore the world God has made and see how it reveals important aspects of His character. Campers will learn how an understanding of basic physics informs a much broader range of disciplines, such as law, journalism, politics, philosophy and theology. This year’s Kucks Camp will teach the fundamental concepts of mechanics, electricity and magnetism, with a significant emphasis on hand-on lab instruction. Campers should be familiar with Geometry and Algebra. Prior knowledge of physics is helpful, but not required.
Science and math have never been my strong suit, but Dr. Kucks made it more than interesting. He pulled physics and geometry from sheer mind-numbing boredom and turned them into intensely interesting subjects which changed the way you viewed life everyday. Dr. Kucks earned the love and respect of every student he taught.

The time I spent studying physics with Dr. Kucks was a highlight of my semester. His concrete explanations of difficult subject matter and open door policy enabled me to succeed in my studies. His enthusiastic attitude and care for the students made class something to look forward to; I never wanted to skip class! Dr. Kucks is truly a gem of a professor and I look forward to studying under him in the future.
